For veterinarians
Help shape the medicines your patients need next.
Familiar is building a new generation of medicines for companion animals, informed by the veterinarians who care for them. Whether you're interested in clinical trials, want to share an unmet need, or simply want to connect with our team, we'd love to hear from you.
OUR APPROACH
Translated from human medicine.
Many diseases in dogs and cats share underlying biology with human disease. Familiar starts with drug candidates whose targets and mechanisms are already understood in people, then does the translational work required to determine whether they can become veterinary medicines.
Before a program advances, we confirm target biology, pharmacokinetics, dosing, and clinical feasibility in the animals we intend to treat. Where we can, we pursue medicines designed to change the course of the disease, not only manage its signs.
FROM PIPELINE TO PRACTICE
Designed to work in everyday veterinary practice.
Oral-dose small molecules
Where the biology allows, we favor oral small molecules: medicines you can prescribe in a telehealth consult and have delivered directly to your client’s door.
Scalable from the start
We assess manufacturability and scalability early, so promising programs can reach more patients.
Developed with a companion test
Wherever possible, we pair a program with a companion test, so patient selection doesn't depend on a referral.
Shaped by practicing veterinarians
We develop our programs with input from veterinarians in real-world clinical practice, including general practitioners.
SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
Developed with veterinarians
Familiar's Scientific Advisory Board includes practicing veterinarians who bring the realities of day-to-day clinical care into our development process, helping shape program selection, indication strategy, and clinical-trial design.

Clinical trials
Join our clinical-trial network.
Familiar's trials are designed to run in client-owned animals with naturally occurring disease, generating evidence in the patients veterinarians see every day.
We're building a network of general practices and specialty centers to support these studies as our programs advance.
As studies open across our therapeutic areas, network practices will be among the first we contact about opportunities to participate.
What participation looks like
Familiar-funded
We sponsor and fund the study.
Client-owned patients
Trials enroll animals with naturally occurring disease treated in clinical practice.
Clinically grounded protocols
Studies are designed with our Scientific Advisory Board and participating investigators.
Shared evidence
Participating clinicians see the data they help generate.
